For my DSDN 112 project the main sense that I was looking to investigate more about is touch. I wanted to see how people would interact with different types of surfaces. After doing several test with different materials I came up with the conclusion that there is no generic way people will interact with each of the surfaces. No matter how you present it and which ever way the grain of the surface is people will want to interact with it in a means that is natural to the user. I want the experience of my Multi Surface Board to be unique to the user and for them to use it how they want to. There is not one straight forward way people will interact with it so it can be unique to the user as they will want to do how they feel is right with this object.
I have attached an envelope to my board and inside it there will be a note that states how the people who I tested this experiment on used the board. And will say the they most common way people interacted with the surfaces.
Instruction
The instructions are simple
- Put the letter aside and DO NOT OPEN IT BEFORE USE
- Run your hand over each of the 6 different surfaces and remember which way you ran your hand over each one
- When you have run your hand over all 6 surfaces then you can get the letter and open it and see what it says inside to see if the way you interacted with each surface is the same as other people
